Job Recruitment Lancashire

From the mid-1980s in Lancashire, market or producer services in areas such as retailing, financial and business sectors became major employers. More recently, public services in areas like health, social welfare and education have also contributed towards rapid jobs growth with government agencies now a major regional employer.

Such service sector expansion has contributed greatly not only to general wealth creation in the region, but also to the long-term rise in local participation in the job market. As well as positions in the public sector, recruitment agencies increasingly post part-time/flexible job types that suit small business development, particularly in sectors such as telesales and call centre operations, customer services and debt management.

In terms of the actual demand for employees, according the last official government survey in Lancashire, 21% of people were employed by the production and construction industries, less than 1% worked in agriculture, forestry and fishing, while the remainder (78%) were employed in service activities such as wholesale and distributive trades, health and social work, sales and business activities, education, hotels and restaurants.

Such trends have also meant that recruitment agencies increasingly post graduate work opportunities, not only in traditional professional activities like health and education, but throughout the realms of business services, information technology and communications as well as in science, engineering and advanced manufacturing technology.
