Bournemouth, located 105 miles southwest of London, is a large coastal resort town in the county of Dorset. With a population of over 150,000 it has ample opportunities for job-seekers in a number of different fields and specialist sectors. With excellent road and rail networks it is well connected to the rest of the country and high speed coach services travel to Bristol, Birmingham and the Midlands at constant and frequent intervals.
Bournemouth's location on the south coast of England of course makes it a Mecca for tourists, but it is also a regional hub of business, and is home to such companies as PruHealth and Liverpool Victoria. As in the rest of Dorset most jobs reside in the service sector, which has employed over 90% of the workforce for the past decade. This is considerably higher than the average employment in the service sector for the rest of the country, and indeed the southwest in general.Historically the area offered a number of jobs in manufacturing but this has declined over the years and what is left of this industry is mostly based in neighboring Poole. Interestingly, one of the fastest growing job sectors in Bournemouth is business tourism, which alone contributes over £120 million annually through business visitors and delegates attending some of the excellent venues and exhibitions in this bustling seaside town.
