As the UK's main centre for financial and business outside London, England's Northwest offers a dynamic range of financial and consultancy firms. England's North West now operates on a truly international scale, with a £120 billion economy, which is bigger than fifteen EU countries and a population of nearly seven million people. There are over 240,000 successful businesses, and revenue is increasing even in these difficult economic times.

The North West boasts Manchester which is one of the financial capitals of the UK. Over 60 banks have operations in Manchester, guaranteeing that it continues to be the largest regional corporate stock-broking and finance hub in the UK. Liverpool is also one of Europe's fastest growing economies. Lancashire is of course the world leader in advanced engineering and manufacturing and Cumbria is at the heart of nuclear technology.

Finance jobs are available in a number of different businesses, many of them close to airports, which mean access to over 270 destinations worldwide. Fast rail links across the UK link cities and towns to London and the extensive motorway network also ensures easy commutes and an excellent place for businesses to be based.

The Manchester city-region accounts for ten per cent of all employment in the UK and seven per cent of all financial services output. Financial services and businesses employ 11 per cent of the workforce in the Northwest overall. This means that this is an excellent region to be focusing on when looking for a job in the financial sector.
